Fayzabad City is the capital of Badakhshan Province which is situated in north eastern part of Afghanistan and is prone to a wide spectra of natural disasters such as earthquakes, GLOF, floods and landslides. Being the main commercial and administrative hub of Badakhshan Province; it is the largest city of the Province. The area of Fayzabad city is growing rapidly due to significant internal immigration and movement of individuals and families to the city from the surrounding districts. This influx requires rapid development of infrastructure and housing and has led to an increase in the city's vulnerability to natural disasters.
The project is focused to build the resilience of vulnerable urban population against natural disasters.
